Hi Peter, It sounds to me like you are doing a remote installation over ssh. When you connect via ssh, do you use -X or -Y ? This tells the destination PC to export the display back to the system you are working from -- so that any graphical interface would appear on the PC you are working from
So if I did something like this
ssh -l precis 151.170.240.10
(where precis is my user name) xclock (to open a graphical clock)
I would get a display error.
If I used -Y it would work ssh -Y -l precis 151.170.240.10
Installing on a cluster is not straightforward (see the Sticky Post at the top of the forum). We really need to be able to connect to your system remotely to sort this out, because PRECIS in default mode won't work on clusters -- adjustments to some configuration files have to be made. PRECIS would run on the head node of the cluster (because the head node will just have a regular linux installation).
Is it possible for us to connect remotely?
Thanks David
