Hi Girma, The model is crashing with the following error: Quote: ***************************************** ***************************************** Model completed with the following : Error Code : 227 Message : REPLANCA: PP HEADERS ON ANCILLARY FILE DO NOT MATCH ***************************************** ***************************************** Please can you try removing /home/precis/ancil/master/sice.erain.i8c10 and /home/precis/ancil/master/sst.erain.i8c10, and then restarting the model? Thank you for your patience and help in detecting bugs in PRECIS - you are the first PRECIS user to downscale ERA-INTERIM from 1979 (it used to start in 1989). Please let me know either way whether this works so that we can update our systems. Regards, Simon |

Hi Girma, I think that you may have uploaded the wrong file. One thing that is apparent however is that you are missing an ancillary file. If you download http://www.precisrcm.com/ancil/master/sice.erain.k8110.gz , unzip and place in your $ANCIL_MASTER directory then try to restart your simulation. Let me know whether it works. All the best, Simon |

Thank You, After I download sice.erain.k8110.gz while I am unzip it trying to place in the $ANCIL_MASTER directory here is what I saw: gunzip -frv sice.erain.k8110.gz $ANCIL_MASTER sice.erain.k8110.gz: 93.1% -- replaced with sice.erain.k8110 gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sst.echvc.q9110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sice.echvc.q4110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sice.erain.i3110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sice.erain.j7110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sst.echvc.n5110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sst.echvc.n7110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sst.erain.i7110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sice.echvc.p6110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/sice.echvc.m1110: unknown suffix -- ignored gzip: /home/precis/ancil/master/README.oxi.era40: unknown suffix -- ignored this is partial copied file. It seems it have the file already trying to replace it if I am wright. Do I have to go ahead with the simulation before I cleared out with you or need to wait until I hear from you?. Thanks again for all the support. Girma |

Hi Girma, Here is part of the list of files in your $ANCIL_MASTER directory: Quote: 667956 -rw-r----- 1 precis users 683982848 Nov 17 09:49 sice.erain.k4110 666132 -rw-r----- 1 precis users 682115072 Nov 17 09:49 sice.erain.k5110 666132 -rw-r----- 1 precis users 682115072 Nov 17 09:49 sice.erain.k6110 666132 -rw-r----- 1 precis users 682115072 Nov 17 09:49 sice.erain.k7110 666132 -rw-r----- 1 precis users 682115072 Nov 17 09:50 sice.erain.k9110 There is no sice.erain.k8110 in this directory, however it sounds from your post that you have downloaded it. I think that you therefore simply need to move it to the correct place i.e. Code: mv sice.erain.k8110 $ANCIL_MASTER All the best, Simon |

Hi Thank you very much for the help, but the simulation starts from 1979 ends 2000. I thought it is going beyond 2000. If its ok, I will see the out come and let you know. For now it is running. I hope it is not going to take much of my time. THANKS AGAIN. Girma |

Post subject: | Re: Restart Error | ||
I started a new simulation (since I got newer ERA-Interim dataset starting in 1979). After the first month it stops and then when I restarted (either with the gui or the command line) it run for another month: febraury 1979, but then it stops and in the monitor screen it says : CRUN finished and that the current time is 5 of february! but if I check the archive directory there is output for the whole month (daily and monthly files are generated), I tried with moses 1 and 2 and I checked the LBC file and pp4lbc and I think I do have all the needed files. Help!!! attach here the leave file

Hi Ruth, This is a known issue with PRECIS. As you started your simulation in January PRECIS crashes when trying to create the DJF seasonal mean (there is no data for December). You should be able to restart the simulation from 01/03/1979 by following the instructions in http://forum.precisrcm.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10. All the best, simon |
