Post subject:  ATD not available

Hi There,
Precis did not respond to run experiment after the completion its installation. there is instruction in the forum believed under common error in precis which says "To activate the at daemon, go into your Linux distro's control panel (control center / yast / etc) and look for some thing that says run-level editor. " at " should be somewhere in that list" advised to enable or check it so the problem will solve.
Following the instruction, I got the location where i suppose to check or enable ATD. in that list ther is no ADT at all. to check it I typed at now and then ctrl D:
warning: commands will be executed using /bin/sh
at> <EOT>
job 8 at Sun Nov 16 00:25:00 2014
Can't open /run/atd.pid to signal atd. No atd running
?
On my other suse v12.3 desk top computer ATD is there but not enabled, precis is working fine.
It is a little bit strange. How ever is there a way to correct this and make it work? I am using my laptop for data analysis using precis .
Please if you can help, I really do appreciate it.

Dear Girma,

The answer will be dependent on the particular Linux installation you have. Hopefully you should be able to find your answer if you read the manual for your particular Linux installation or search using Google

All the best,
Simon

I think by doing,

code
#ATD
at now
>ctr D
it seems like running. But I saw "status : running (2x2 PEs, NRUN" which does not go any where and no error message. I think i should come back to it after downloading the sst files and test it.

Girma,
In OpenSUSE 12.3

Open a terminal, then

su -
yast2
Navigate to System then System Services (Runlevel)
Near the top you should see atd
Click on Enable so that it says Yes in the Enabled column
Click Ok
Choose Yes when it says "Save changes to Runlevel?"

Now PRECIS should start.

Hi Girma,

For the ERAIN error (failed to update ancillaries) you need to download and unzip the ancillaries identified in another thread. Put them in $ANCIL_MASTER.

If atd doesn't appear on the services list, you might need to install it and then enable it.
