Hi, all
I am running PRECIS2.0 to simulate the climate change over China under HadGEM2-ES RCPs. As we known, the uncertainties from driving GCMs in climate simulations are unavoidable and important. I remember that HadCM3 can provide an ensemble (QUMPs) to capture these uncertainties. Thus, I have two questions:
(1) Besides HadGEM2-ES, what other GCMs from MOHC can be used to drive PRECIS for capturing these uncertainties?
(2) Can GCMs from other different research institutes (i.e., BCCAGCM in China) be used to drive PRECIS? How? This is my major concern.

Regards
John

Hi John,
sorry for delay in getting back to you, busy times! the answer to your questions:
(1) currently only HadAM3P the HadCM3Q (QUMPs) that you refer to
(2) Not in general. The only other that can be used is ECHAM5 (http://www.mpimet.mpg.de/en/science/mod ... esm/echam/)

Regards,

Saeed

Hi Saeed,
Thank you very much. Furthermore, I have seen some information about new version (PRECIS 2.1) in some papers, i.e.,
https://rmets.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/d ... 02/qj.3046
So, what is the expected release date for the new version?

Many thanks,

John

There's no word or ETA on the new version?
