Post subject: | output data from global model |
Hello Users, I'd like to do the PRECIS validation by comparing the global model and the regional model for the historical scenario, using the variable precipitation. How can I get the output data from global model to do this? I appreciate any help. Claudia da Costa |

Hi Claudia, It is depends on the GCM. Monthly means HadAM3P data is here http://www.precisrcm.com/HadAM3P/ Various fields for HadCM3Q0/3/16 are here http://www.precisrcm.com/HadCM3/ More HadCM3Q can be found at BADC, see instructions here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/applied/applied-climate/precis/qump/badc We don't have any data for Era-40 or Era-Interim -- I suspect ECMWF has them somewhere. HadGEM2-ES would be (I think) at a CMIP5 archive http://cmip-pcmdi.llnl.gov/cmip5/availability.html Hope this helps David |

Hi Claudia, Offline you explained to me that you need the output from the HadGEM2-ES historical period GCM (in PRECIS it uses id akwss). I've checked and the data is available on the CMIP5 data portal. You just need to know the realisation : r1i1p1 (you may also need v20120928). http://cmip-pcmdi.llnl.gov/cmip5/data_getting_started.html It would be useful for you to learn how to retrieve CMIP5 data such as what you are asking, because I'm sure in your career that you'll need to do this again at some point. Thanks David |
