Hi, I am running PRECIS with Hadgem for the RCP8.5, and it run for 2months and now is sending an error. It seems that an Ancil - ozone file is missing, however I checked the ones in the precis.com/ancil and I do have all the ones that are listed there, but for some reason instead of being consecutive (datewise) there is a gap of 10 years in between each ozone file, not so sure that is related with the error that I am getting, but that seems weird. Anyway here is the leave file. cheers, Ruth

Hi Ruth, I could be totally wrong, however I wander whether PRECIS is getting confused with the links in $ANCIL_MASTER Quote: 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 rcerezo rcerezo 56 ene 15 2016 ozone.rcp85.360.j9c10 -> /media/rcerezo/RuthCM/ancil/master/ozone.rcp85.360.j9c10 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 rcerezo rcerezo 56 ene 15 2016 ozone.rcp85.360.l9c10 -> /media/rcerezo/RuthCM/ancil/master/ozone.rcp85.360.l9c10 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 rcerezo rcerezo 56 ene 15 2016 ozone.rcp85.360.n9c10 -> /media/rcerezo/RuthCM/ancil/master/ozone.rcp85.360.n9c10 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 rcerezo rcerezo 56 ene 15 2016 ozone.rcp85.360.p9c10 -> /media/rcerezo/RuthCM/ancil/master/ozone.rcp85.360.p9c10 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 rcerezo rcerezo 56 ene 15 2016 ozone.rcp85.360.r9c10 -> /media/rcerezo/RuthCM/ancil/master/ozone.rcp85.360.r9c10 Do you have a disk space where you can keep all the ANCIL_MASTER files in one location? If you do, then can you try a test? All the best, Simon |

Hi Simon, I moved the ozone files to the ancil directory (not soft link), and rerun the model but I got the same error message ....

Hi Ruth, It looks like the ancil updating stage, where the script should tell ozone.rcp85.360 to link to the correct file isn't working. In your .leave file: Quote: The following ancillaries are to be updated: ozone, sst, sice, so2dms ozone : Last update time = Current time = 2050/ 2/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = => No ozone ancillary updating possible sst : Last update time = Current time = 2050/ 2/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = => No sst ancillary updating possible sice : Last update time = Current time = 2050/ 2/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = => No sice ancillary updating possible so2dms : Last update time = Current time = 2050/ 2/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = => No so2dms ancillary updating possible Updated ancillaries will be created from master files. There is no last update time, or update time data. Normally this part of the leave file looks like Quote: sst : Last update time = 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z Current time = 2001/ 4/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z => sst ancillary update required Moved file /data/local2/precis/precis_expt/ancil/dhgcl/qrclim.sst.erain to /data/local2/precis/archive/dhgcl/ancil/qrclim.sst.erain.k1110 New master file /data/local6/precis/ancil/master/sst.erain.k1110 spans 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z to 2001/12/31 18:00:00z Soft link /data/local2/precis/precis_expt/dhgcl/dhgcl_ancil_master/sst.erain -> /data/local6/precis/ancil/master/sst.erain.k1110 Next update time = 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z sice : Last update time = 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z Current time = 2001/ 4/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z => sice ancillary update required Moved file /data/local2/precis/precis_expt/ancil/dhgcl/qrclim.sice.erain to /data/local2/precis/archive/dhgcl/ancil/qrclim.sice.erain.k1110 New master file /data/local6/precis/ancil/master/sice.erain.k1110 spans 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z to 2001/12/31 18:00:00z Soft link /data/local2/precis/precis_expt/dhgcl/dhgcl_ancil_master/sice.erain -> /data/local6/precis/ancil/master/sice.erain.k1110 Next update time = 2001/ 1/ 1 0:00:00z ozone : Last update time = 1999/11/16 0:00:00z Current time = 2001/ 4/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = 2009/11/16 0:00:00z => No ozone ancillary updating required so2dms : Last update time = 1954/11/16 0:00:00z Current time = 2001/ 4/ 1 0:00:00z Update time = 2004/11/16 0:00:00z => No so2dms ancillary updating required My new guess is that either $DATADIR/prdad/ancil_update_times_next, or $DATADIR/prdad/ancil_update_times_current have got corrupted. These are the files that store when an update is required. Thet should look like: Quote: $ cat $DATADIR/dhgdj/ancil_update_times_next sice 19601130120000 so2dms 20011101000000 ozone 19791116000000 sst 19601130120000 Do yours? Simon |

Hi Ruth, One option will be for you to try and edit those files, however I suspect that the cleanest option will be for you to rerun as NRUN from 1/12/2049. (see http://forum.precisrcm.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10). I'm not sure how/why this has happened, tell us if it happens again and we will investigate. All the best, Simon |
